BIO

Nadya Hill, a Colorado native, has been featured as a vocal and violin soloist with various orchestras across the country, and is comfortable in a wide range of musical styles from classical to jazz and ethnic music.

A graduate of both the University of Michigan and the University of Colorado with degrees in vocal and violin performance, all with highest honors, Hill has performed the roles of Despina in the Eklund Opera’s 2015 production of “Così fan Tutte”, and Adele in Eklund Opera’s 2016 production of “Die Fledermaus”, First Lady in Eklund Opera’s 2017 “Die Zauberflote”, Linda Porter in Eklund Opera’s 2017 production of “Red Hot and Cole”, and “Francisca” in the Boulder Philharmonic’s 2018 production of “West Side Story”.

A specialist in new art song, Nadya recently premiered and recorded “Otherwise: Poems of Jane Kenyon” and “Songs on Poems of Sara Teasdale”, two cycles by Robert Spillman, with the composer at the piano.  She also premiered Spillman’s “The River Merchant’s Wife” with Margaret McDonald on piano and Erika Eckert on viola.

Nadya frequently works with composer William Hill premiering his “Three Wings” for Soprano and Orchestra with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra on their opening of the Masterworks Series in September 2018, premiering “El Pero Azul” for violin and orchestra in 2015, and “African Sketches” on the Colorado Symphony Orchestra’s 2012 Drums of the World.  Ms. Hill is also a member of the award-winning jazz ensemble “Bill Hill and Friends”.

An avid advocate for the arts, Hill co-founded the Mountain Area Chamber Music Festival with tenor Michael Hoffman, is currently writing a JavaScript-based application to aid in musical learning, established the Cavallo Scuro studio as a visual artist, has taught with the Mile-High Strings– a music program that provides free violin lessons in title-one Denver schools, has a violin studio in Evergreen, Colorado, and works for the Rockley Family Foundation, a 501c(3) as their Head of Strings.
